Jose Altuve’s wife Nina Altuve revealed what truly relaxes her

For Jose Altuve and his wife Nina, the 2024 offseason will be their longest in nearly a decade. With her husband normally still competing in the MLB playoffs at this time of year, the couple were sure to experience some following Houston’s postseason elimination earlier in October.

On Sunday, Altuve showed her Instagram followers something that gives her great joy. The Venezuelan-born MLB wife shared a video on her IG story of herself walking on sand on a beach, claiming the sensation to be the “best feeling ever.”

A native of Maracay, Venezuela, Giannina “Nina” Altuve has been married to her husband since 2006. The wedding took place when Jose was 16 and Nina was 13. After marrying, Altuve made his MLB debut for the Houston Astros in 2011, and the pair subsequently welcomed a pair of daughters into the world.

A tireless supporter of her husband and his career, faith and philanthropy play important roles in Nina Altuve’s life. In addition to being very involved in their Houston-area church, the Altuve family has lent their time to various charitable pursuits, including a donation of 60,000 meals to 60,000 meals to Kids Meals, Inc during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Although they won their division again in 2024, the Astros’ playoffs were cut short by two straight losses to the Detroit Tigers in the AL Wild Card Series. While Jose Altuve and his teammates undoubtedly wanted to make another run at the World Series, it is likely that the extended family time afforded by their early exit is also welcomed.

Jose Altuve wants Astros core to remain the same

Although Altuve is slated to be under contract with the Astros until 2029, there are some big changes about. For instance, third baseman Alex Bregman will see his $100 million deal expire this offseason. In recent comments to MLB.com, Altuve claimed he wants Bregman to remain with the club, saying:

“I don’t want to think about my last game with Breggy, I’m pretty confident he’s going to be our third baseman next year. We have to. We’re not going to be the same organization without him. In my mind, there’s not a chance this is the last game.”

Before next season, Altuve, Nina, and their two daughters will certainly be able to spend some much-needed quality time together.
