Tyrann Mathieu, a hometown hero, wants to finish his career with just one organization….

New Orleans Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu does not want to leave any ifs, ands or buts up to the imagination − there is only one place he wants to spend the rest of his career.

“I wouldn’t want to play for any other team,” Mathieu recently told Kay Adams on her show “Up & Adams.” “The opportunity to able to win for my home town … I mean, I think that kind of trumps me going anywhere else … I’d rather do it for my people, down here.”

Mathieu, 32, is from New Orleans and went to St. Augustine High School. Since, he has enjoyed an illustrious career with LSU, the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs and now his hometown Saints.

Now, after winning Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs in 2020, and becoming a three-time All-Pro, he is very content with how his career played out.

“I’ve accomplished everything that I, individually, set out to accomplish,” Mathieu said.

He also brought up his thoughts of eventually hanging up his cleats.

“Coming back home, being able to be in the community, being able to play high-level football and be productive on the field, that’s always been a dream of mine to do,” he said. “I’m not really looking too far in the future, but obviously, I do think about coaching and I do think about the day of when I’ll hang it up. (I ask myself), ‘Do I want to coach in the NFL? Do I want to coach in college? What do I want to do?’ I have those conversations with myself a lot.”

Mathieu has grabbed three interceptions this season. In his 12-year career, he has 36 interceptions, 11 sacks, six forced fumbles and 819 tackles. Among some of the events he hosts under his Tyrann Mathieu Foundation is an annual Heart of a Badger Free Youth Skills Camp for 300 local children.
