NORMAN — The Oklahoma Softball coaching staff was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year as announced June 6.
It’s the 17th time in program history that the staff has been honored as the regional coaching staff of the year, all of which have come during head coach Patty Gasso’s tenure. In 2025 the Sooners went 52-9, earning the program’s ninth consecutive trip to the Women’s College World Series and 18th in program history.
The Sooners earned the number two national seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, advancing to the WCWS Semifinals for the ninth time in as many seasons.
The Sooners went 17-7 in their first season in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), winning the 2025 SEC Regular Season Championship, as well as a share of the SEC Tournament Title. Four OU players were named NFCA All-Americans, including Kasidi Pickering (first team), Ella Parker (first team), Sam Landry (second team) and Gabbie Garcia (third team). Ailana Agbayani was the Rawlings Gold Glove recipient at second base, while also serving as one of three SEC All-Defensive Team honorees. Garcia and Landry would also join her on that list.
The Sooners were honored with nine SEC postseason honors, including two superlative awards. Head coach Patty Gasso was named SEC Coach of the Year and Sam Landry was honored as SEC Newcomer of the Year. Nelly McEnroe-Marinas, Pickering and Landry were also first team selections.
OU’s offense finished second in the nation in home runs (121), becoming the first program in NCAA history to reach at least 100 home runs in six consecutive seasons. The OU pitching staff spun a 2.66 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP, while the gloves turned in a .978 fielding percentage, ninth best in the nation.
