During Sky Season, Angel Reese made a strong statement about Kamilla Cardoso.

Angel Reese is once again at the center of WNBA conversations. The former NCAA Tournament champion from LSU is now entering her second season with the Chicago Sky.

The Sky stumbled out of the gate with a 93-58 blowout loss in their season opener against Indiana, but fans, coaches and players are eager to see what this revamped Chicago team can accomplish.

One of the most talked-about storylines is the connection between Reese and teammate Kamilla Cardoso. That bond has drawn attention not just in their rookie year but also in their second season.

In an interview clip shared by Chicago State of Mind Sports, Reese spoke about her her chemistry with Cardoso.

“I think we have a great connection. Four, five, the skyscrapers. I always selfishly say I give her the best passes. I try to encourage her, I’m like, ‘Kill, you can kill everybody that’s in front of you,’ and sometimes I like to try to get her going, and pushing her and pushing her.”

Reese didn’t hold back when describing Cardoso’s potential.

“I think the sky is the limit for Kamilla, and the things she can do and excited to see what she can showcase this year.”

The Sky are aiming to rebound from a disappointing 13-27 season in 2024. With former head coach Teresa Weatherspoon out, the team has turned to Tyler Marsh, who’s stepping into his first head coaching role in the WNBA.

Reese and Cardoso were already familiar with each other before arriving in the WNBA. Cardoso starred at South Carolina, where she earned Most Outstanding Player honors in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Her Gamecocks defeated Iowa in the national championship game.

Cardoso had an impressive rookie season, appearing in 32 games and starting 29. She averaged 9.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. In the opener against Indiana, she tallied seven points and seven rebounds.

Reese, who won her NCAA title with LSU in 2023, also against Iowa, continues to make headlines. Known for her highly publicized rivalry with Caitlin Clark, Reese made waves last season by breaking the WNBA single-season rebounding record.

She averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game. In the season-opening loss, she led the Sky with 12 points and 17 rebounds.

The Sky return to action Thursday night when they host the New York Liberty at Wintrust Arena in their home opener.
