CSC Academic All-District Names for Puckett and Spear

contributors for the Tennessee Lady Vols, have been named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team, the organization has announced. Recognizing the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom, the CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women’s basketball honorees in four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Puckett, a senior from Muscle Shoals, Ala., made the team for the second year in a row. She is majoring in kinesiology with a minor in business administration. She sports a 3.60 GPA, is a soon-to-be four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a 2021-22 graduate of the VOLeaders Academy. Appearing in 159 games during her career and starting 56, Puckett has averaged 6.4 points and 3.5 rebounds over her four seasons on Rocky Top and was a member of the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2021-22. The 6-foot-2 forward has appeared in all 33 games during the current campaign, contributing 4.8 points and 3.1 rebounds while knocking down 23 three-pointers. She scored a season-high 17 points in back-to-back games vs. Tulsa and Winthrop this season. Spear, a fifth-year from The Colony, Texas, made the CSC squad for the first time. Earning a degree in journalism and electronic media in 2024 and currently pursuing a master’s in agricultural leadership, education and communications, Spear sports a 4.00 GPA in her post-graduate work and a combined 3.59 undergraduate effort between her studies at Wake Forest and Tennessee. She made the ACC Academic Honor Roll twice and will make her second SEC Academic Honor Roll this spring. Tennessee’s second-leading scoring at 12.8 points per game, Spear leads the Lady Vols and is among the SEC’s leaders in three-pointers (77) and three-point shooting percentage (38.5) as well as free throw percentage (87.7). Her 77 treys in 2024-25 rank as the No. 5 single-season total in school history and her 146 over two seasons stand No. 10 on the UT career list. She earned SEC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 18 and is a member of the Women’s College All-Star Game Watch List.
