A quarter century elapsed between the capture of these two views of Munjoy Hill, both photographed from the upper floors of the Glickman Library on the University of Southern Maine campus.

The older photograph, published in the Jan. 25, 1990, edition of the Portland Evening Express, accompanied a story about stepped-up inspections programs in the Bayside neighborhood.

The Portland Room of the Portland Public Library is in the process of organizing and conserving the archival collection of original Portland Press Herald, Maine Sunday Telegram and Evening Express photographic negatives a major collection that spans from 1937 to 2005.
