Athing Mu drops a two-word reaction as Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone recreates her Olympic look in GST photoshoot

American sprinter and two-time Olympic gold medalist Athing Mu reacted to Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s photoshoot for Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track League. This comes just a few months after McLaughlin-Levrone signed a deal with GST in June before the US Olympics Trials.

McLaughlin-Levrone was the first track athlete to put pen to paper for the GST league. Recently, the four-time Olympic gold medalist also appeared for a photo shoot for the league.

The Instagram handle shared a video from the shoot in which a different side of the track athlete can be seen. In the video, McLaughlin-Levrone can be seen donning her New Balance on-track wardrobes and flaunting her curly hair.

It added in the caption:

“Grammy’s red carpet or GST red track?”

Athing Mu commented under the post, sharing a two-word reaction. She wrote:

“curls: poppi”

Mu and McLaughlin-Levrone have been 4x400m relay teammates at the delayed Tokyo Olympics. The quartet including Mu, McLaughlin-Levrone, Allyson Felix, and Dalilah Muhammad clinched the gold for the US with a season-best run time of 3:16.85.

However, Mu failed to qualify for the 2024 Olympics after a disappointing show at the US Track and Field Trials. She finished 9th in the 800m finals event.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone opens up about her love for hurdles

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone opened up about her love for the 400m hurdles event. This comes just a few months after she won her second Olympic gold medal in Paris.

In an interview with Olympics.com, McLaughlin-Levrone said that in the 400m hurdles event, she has the space to work on her shortcomings. She also mentioned that the hurdles helped her distract from the main race, unlike the 400m dash event.

She said:

“The open 400 is just a full-on sprint. But at least with the hurdles, I can think about something and have to work on it. There’s certain things that kind of just distract you from the fact that you’re running a 400. And I think that’s why I love the hurdles.”

Even though Sydney Mclaughlin-Levrone’s specialization is the hurdles event, she also performed quite well in the 400m dash in 2024. She registered victories over the distance at the Brussels Diamond League invitational event and the USATF New York City Grand Prix in June.
