Yankees Radio Voice Has Message For Mets Fans Angry At Hawk Tuah Girl Throwing First Pitch
The New York Mets decided to have some fun this past week by inviting Hailey Welch, aka Hawk Tuah Girl, to throw out the first pitch of a game. The decision infuriated a number of Mets fans who got weirdly angry about it in the days that followed.
A number of New York radio voices were among the loudest to declare that the Mets looked like clowns for inviting Welch to throw the first pitch. But newly-minted New York Yankees radio voice Craig Carton had a different take.
Taking to X on Saturday, Carton declared that the first pitch only “ever truly mattered/meant something” when then-President George W. Bush threw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium during the 2001 World Series in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks. He said that Mets fans should stop complaining and having “holier than thou attitudes.”
“The only first pitch that ever truly mattered/meant something was by President Bush at Yankee Stadium in 2001.
Stop complaining and leave ur sanctimonious holier than thou attitudes to yourselves. I give the Mets credit for trying. Now go ahead and insult me and have a blessed day,” Carton declared.
That stance isn’t likely to make Mets fans any less mad at the situation, only angry at Carton for giving his two cents. Though his replies are filled with plenty of people praising him for giving this take.
