Alexandra Eala is the latest rising tennis star from the Philippines. The 19-year-old made headlines at the Miami Open, where she defeated three Grand Slam champions to reach the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament.

Eala grew up in Quezon City, Philippines, under the care of her father, Michael Eala, and mother, Rosemarie “Rizza” Maniego-Eala. She started playing tennis at a young age and was a student at the Rafael Nadal Academy. She graduated from the academy as a new generation of players and has made waves as a junior, winning Grand Slam titles in both singles and doubles.

She had her best Juniors Grand Slam run at the 2022 US Open girls’ singles after beating No.2 seed Lucie Havlickova in the final to win the title in New York.
