
BOSTON, Mass. – The Bowdoin College track & field team boasted numerous All-Region performances in a stellar showing at the New England Division III Track & Field Championships this weekend in The TRACK at New Balance.
The Bowdoin men totaled 49 points to place sixth at the championship while the women’s team finished with 21.5 points to take 10th overall. With over 50 schools at the meet, top-eight finishers earned All-New England recognition.
Men’s Meet Highlights
Kane Demers broke his own school record and claimed the New England championship in the 60 hurdles (8.08) and then followed it up with a second-place finish in the long jump (7.17m) and a sixth-place in the 200m (21.70) to earn three All-New England honors.
Oliver Brandes took second in the 800m (1:52.01) and Will Goddard was third in the mile (4:12.46) with Matt Servin right behind in sixth (4:14.85).
Omar Frostman El-Hmaini took fifth place in the triple jump (13.62m), and Bowdoin’s 4×400 relay (Ronan O’Flaherty, Ian Bridges, Noah Rockey, Adepoju Arogundade, 3:18.37, 5th) and 4×800 relay (Matthew Servin, Aidan Singer, Will Goddard, Oliver Brandes, 7:49.13, 6th) also too All-New England awards.
Women’s Meet Highlights
Kennedy Kirkland led the way for the Polar Bears, winning the New England title in the long jump via a tiebreaker (5.58m) and also placing fifth in the 200m (24.74).
Astrid McGuire placed eighth in the 600m (1:38.25) to capture All-Region while the 4×800 relay of Kaylee Hale, Lex Davis, Emma Randall-Jarrard, and McGuire also got an eighth-place finish in 9:36.67.
Charlotte Hodge cleared 3.67m to take fifth in the pole vault while Mardy Novak posted a toss of 12.10m to take eighth in the shot put.
Rose Jenkins totaled a score of 2,960 points to also net All-New England honors in the pentathlon.
