The Dallas Mavericks are dealing with the injury bug and are looking for ways to keep their team competitive following the Luka Doncic trade.

Anthony Davis is expected to miss multiple weeks with a left adductor strain, so the Mavs may need to look on the buyout market to help replace the production of one of Dallas’ newest acquisitions.

Fadeaway World predicts that the Mavs will add New Orleans Pelicans guard Bruce Brown should he hit free agency. Brown is no stranger to the big moments, as he helped the Denver Nuggets win a championship in 2023.

He had 21 points in Game 4 of that series against the Miami Heat and played no less than 20 minutes in all five games.

Brown’s ability to hit the floater in open space gives the Mavs a solid option to depend on, especially when Kyrie Irving and Davis draw multiple defenders away.

The Miami product’s versatility on defense, considering his strong ability to cut off driving lanes and force his opponent into difficult shots, would also bolster their defense on the perimeter and help keep opposing guards in check in a playoff series. That could be incredibly useful when going up against guys like Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Anthony Edwards in a loaded Western Conference.

Brown’s offensive skillset would also soften the blow of the Mavs losing Doncic and give Irving some much-needed help at the guard spot. As evidenced by their time with the Brooklyn Nets, both can also thrive alongside each other.
