While we were on the Movember Charity stream, the Lions made a series of roster moves. Some previously reported moves were confirmed while new transactions were released. Here’s what happened.

Following a Thanksgiving game that saw more attrition on the defensive side of the ball, the Detroit Lions made a series of roster moves on Saturday, confirming several previously reported adjustments, while also releasing a few new transitions.

First, the Lions confirmed the reports that linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez and rookie defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo would be placed on injured reserve after suffering season-ending knee injuries against the Chicago Bears in Week 13. Additionally, with injuries to defensive linemen Josh Paschal and Levi Onwuzurike potentially keeping them out of the Lions’ next game, Detroit needed to add depth to their front seven.

In order to make room for needed additions, the Lions also waived wide receiver/returner Maurice Alexander. After being signed the day before Thanksgiving, Alexander acted as the Lions’ primary punt and kick returner against the Bears, as well as serving as insurance on offense. While Alexander is no longer on the 53-man roster, it’s expected that he will return to the Lions practice squad, where they would have the option to elevate him on game days during Kalif Raymond’s stint on injured reserve.

With three open spots, the Lions tapped three other NFL practice squads for replacement players. The Lions confirmed the signings of linebacker Kwon Alexander from Denver and defensive lineman Jonah Williams from the Rams—both additions we broke down in previous articles. Detroit also added Myles Adams from Seattle, filling the final spot on the 53-man roster.

Adams (6-foot-2, 285 pounds) is a bit undersized for the interior defensive line. His range of play is very reminiscent of Lions’ Pat O’Connor. Capable of playing at the 5-technique, Adams does most of his impactful work inside at the 3- and 1-techniques.

Undrafted out of Rice University in 2020, Adams initially joined the Panthers, but was released at cutdowns and joined the Seahawks, where he would spend the next four seasons of his NFL career. Over that time, Adams played in 26 games for Seattle, starting one in 2023. When Seattle switched from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense in 2024, Adams’ role was reduced. He has only played three games this season, but one of them was in Week 4 versus the Lions, where he had his best game of the season.

Moving forward, look for Adams to add depth along the Lions’ interior defensive line behind starters Alim McNeill and DJ Reader, while competing for snaps with O’Connor and 2023 third-round pick Brodric Martin.
