In the world of sport, many children have followed in their parents’ footsteps. And basketball is no exception. There are quite a few sons and daughters of former players who have made it to the NBA and WNBA
Another thing is the pressure they will have to bear with the eternal comparison that will haunt them with their parents, especially if they were stars. In the most prominent case in recent years, that of LeBron James’ sons, it seems that Bronny and Bryce James are coping well with that pressure.
“I have two girls, 11 and 8, and a younger son who’s five. My oldest is a volleyball player, she’s taken after grandma and some of the women in my life who play volleyball,” he said on LIVE with Kelly and Mark.
“Middle daughter, the dancer. She’s kind of the artist of the family so I’m over two on that one already. And the five-year-old, we’ll see what he wants to be. He’s kind of the athlete but I don’t know if basketball, golf, baseball, whatever it is.”
However, Canon Curry has at least 14 years left before he’s draft-eligible, so it will be a long wait to see if he has what it takes to follow his father. The fact that Steph and his brother Seth followed in the footsteps of their father, former player Dell Curry, means that Canon Curry could end up following that path in the NBA in 18 years or so and perpetuate the family tradition.
