Panama City Beach approves $100,000 for spring break law enforcement support

As spring break crowds continue to swell along the Gulf Coast, the City of Panama City Beach has approved $100,000 in funding to help its police department manage the seasonal surge. The funds will be used to increase the number of law enforcement officers on patrol, enhance security camera coverage, and improve access point control in high-traffic areas. “With spring break comes new challenges,” said Panama City Beach Chief of Police J.R. Talamantez. “We identify those challenges and try to find solutions — whether it’s more cameras, more officers, or expanding patrol zones. These funds will help us provide a better police presence and a better police service.” This year’s spring break season has been particularly active, due in part to the Easter holiday falling later in April drawing larger crowds during a more condensed timeframe. The funding boost aims to ensure public safety during this busy stretch and into the summer season.
