Paige Bueckers brings her basketball magic to SFMOMA in a stunning fusion of sport and art
Bueckers makes its way into basketball
UConn women’s college basketball star Paige Bueckers shocks the world once again, but this time not just from the court.
Bueckers has partnered with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) for a groundbreaking exhibition exploring the intersection of sport, art and contemporary culture – Get in the Game.
The show, opening October 19, promises to be an unparalleled celebration of the connection between athletic energy and artistic expression.
In a video accompanying the exhibit, Bueckers stuns viewers as she performs her basketball moves throughout the museum, enveloped in the majesty of Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons.”
The contrast between dynamic sport and classical music with a mix of electronica creates a unique moment.
For Bueckers, being part of this initiative is not only an honor, but an opportunity to show how basketball is more than a game: it is an art form.
“I’ve always said that I think basketball is another form of art, just the way people move, the way they’re creative. Basketball is expression, through creativity and instinct – finding different ways to get the ball in the basket, so it was a blessing and honor to help invite people to experience an exhibition at SFMOMA that celebrates the intersection of art and sport.”
The exhibition not only features Bueckers, but also pays tribute to sports greats such as Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Colin Kaepernick, and Venus Williams.
The art and sport exhibition at SFMOMA highlights the achievements and influence of these athletes on contemporary culture, as well as the lasting impact they have had on their respective sports.
