Nelly Korda gives major update regarding injury that kept her out of two tournaments

Nelly Korda was scheduled to play at the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea and the Maybank Championship in Malaysia this month. However, she had to give the tournaments a miss owing to a neck injury.

The World No. 1 recently shared an update about her health on social media. Much to the delight of golf fans across the world, the announcement was positive and fans might be able to see Korda in action very soon. She added a celebratory emoji as she wrote:

“Cleared to start practicing”

Korda posed with a victory sign as she clicked a picture of her shadow. A couple of golf balls lay across the ground next to her golf club. The golfer sported a white skirt and white shoes.

Nelly Korda won six LPGA Tour titles this year, out of which five were consecutive. She also picked up her second Major title at the Chevron Championship and placed T2 at the AIG Women’s Open. The 26-year-old was also a part of the winning US team at the 2024 Solheim Cup.

Korda had an incredible season until she incurred a neck injury at practice. The injury abruptly halted her run and hampered her chances to win the Vare Trophy, the title awarded to the golfer with the lowest scoring average at the end of the year.

LPGA golfers are required to play at least 70 rounds to be eligible for the award. As the 2024 calendar inches towards wrapping up, Korda is expected to take part in two more events. However, she might still fall short of eligibility.

To be eligible, she would have to play in all four remaining events after the Maybank Championship. The next event on the Asian Tour is the TOTO Japan Classic at the end of October. However, Korda is not part of the field.

She might be out of Vare Trophy contention but she still holds a considerable lead over Lydia Ko for the LPGA Player of the Year award.

Where will Nelly Korda play next?

Nelly Korda was last seen in action at the Kroger Queen City Championship in September where she placed T5.

The World No. 1 is expected to play in The Annika driven by Gainbridge event and the CME Group Tour Championship in November next. Outside of the regular competitive schedule, Korda will also take part in the PNC Championship with her father, Petr Korda, in December.
