Manchester United to decide on Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund for the Crystal Palace match.

Manchester United will decide on Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund’s inclusion in their Premier League squad for the road encounter against Crystal Palace on Friday.

Mount has missed the last three games with a muscular injury and Hojlund has been sidelined for nearly eight weeks due to a hamstring strain but the pair returned to training in midweek.

Leny Yoro (foot), Victor Lindelof (toe), Luke Shaw (calf) and Tyrell Malacia (knee) are all still unavailable for United, who lost 4-0 at Palace last season.

Hojlund was effectively United’s only available frontman last season and he has only scored once as a starter since he recovered from a muscular injury in March. Ten Hag admitted he overloaded players at times last term.

“It’s very good news they are back in the pitch,” Ten Hag said of Mount and Hojlund. “They are back in team training, we have to decide whether they are fit enough to start but it is very pleasing they are fit and back in the squad.

“We have so many games in this block to cover, so very very happy. We have to make the final call, they did a couple of training, we have to see how they recover and tomorrow they will make the final call.”

Hojlund, 21, missed the first three games last season while he recovered from a stress fracture of his back and he had a three-week lay-off in February and March that coincided with damaging defeats to Fulha and Manchester City.

Mount, 25, has been plagued by injuries for nearly two years and missed 30 of United’s matches last term but Ten Hag is grateful to have a fuller squad to choose from after last season’s injury crises.

“Careful and top football: you always go to boundaries,” Ten Hag said. “It’s not avoidable but when you have a full squad available then it’s easier to manage the load when you are in circusmtances like last season and there is a need to play, we have to overload them.

“We hope we can integrate them in a very careful way.
