Kate Garraway interrupts GMB for tragic ‘breaking news’ announcement
Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway was forced to interrupt the show for a ‘breaking news’ announcement after 51 people died in flash floods in Spain.
Kate Garraway interrupted Good Morning Britain on Wednesday to deliver a “breaking news” update.
The ITV presenter informed viewers that 51 individuals had lost their lives in Valencia, Spain, due to the flash floods.
Upon returning to the studio, Kate declared: “Welcome back, we have got some breaking news for you.
“It has to do with the situation in Spain that Laura was referencing earlier. At least 51 people have been killed now in flash floods in south-eastern parts of Spain, officials there have just confirmed that.[”
She went on to say: “The country has been severely affected by rain and hail storms since Tuesday. Rescue operations are in progress, and the president of the Valencia region stated it was impossible to provide an exact figure for what the final death toll might be because, at this point, everything is so uncertain.”
Massive rainstorms resulted in mud-coloured waters sweeping through areas from Malaga down to Valencia on its east coast, leading to at least 50 fatalities, as per emergency teams in the region.
Horrifying images and videos circulated from the impacted areas depict several-foot-high rapid waters carrying away cars.
More individuals are feared missing or deceased in the affected regions of the country. The Mayor of Utiel, Ricardo Gabaldon, informed RTVE that several people have been trapped in their homes.
Emergency services, including police and rescue helicopters, were deployed to airlift individuals from their homes and vehicles. In addition, a brigade of approximately 1,000 soldiers from Spain’s army was called in to assist with the rescue efforts
