Jonathan Smith, the football coach at Michigan State, speaks with an athletic…

I haven’t felt this enthusiastic about Michigan State football in a long time, but following the Spartans’ thrilling 27-24 victory over Maryland, it’s hard not to be ecstatic. It also feels good to watch Michigan fall to Texas at home by a million runs. So I didn’t think the football side of my life could improve after those two results (or the Detroit Lions’ victory on Sunday night).

Man was I wrong about that.

We all know by now how embarrassing of a loss that team down the road suffered to Texas. A 31-12 loss in the Big House? Yikes.

As much fun as that was on it’s own, seeing the meltdown from Michigan fans after the game makes it even better. And if you are someone that pays attention to recruiting message boards then you may have already seen this gem of a post from a Michigan fan.

That’s right, just two weeks into the season this Michigan fan says they wish they had Jonathan Smith, offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren, and freshman standout wide receiver Nick Marsh in their program.

In all honesty I really can’t blame this fan. Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore looks like he’s in way over his head and the Wolverines’ offense hasn’t been much of an offense at all up to this point. In all honesty, I’m surprised they didn’t say anything about wanting Aidan Chiles considering no quarterback on Michigan’s roster has proven they can throw the football.

I know the season is young and there’s a good chance Michigan still beats MSU later this season in Ann Arbor, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling infintely more confident in that game now.

For all the trash talk we received from Michigan fans this offseason, it’s nice to see them put back in their place after just two weeks of football.
