The NFL announced today that the four-time Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will play the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, Sept. 5 at Corinthians Arena, in São Paulo, Brazil, for the NFL’s Friday night Week 1 game. It will mark the second NFL regular season game to be contested in Brazil, following last year’s Week 1 matchup. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to play the Chargers in São Paulo to help kick off the 2025 NFL season,” Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. “As a family and as an organization, we have made a commitment to growing the game of American football internationally. This commitment started with my father, Lamar Hunt, who was always finding ways to bring the game to new fans. The 2025 game in São Paulo is a tremendous opportunity for our team, and we are excited to bring Chiefs Kingdom to South America later this year.” The NFL previously announced that YouTube will exclusively stream the NFL’s Friday night Week 1 game of the 2025-26 season, bringing the NFL to a worldwide audience for free on YouTube and YouTubeTV. It marks YouTube’s first time as a live NFL broadcaster. “We are always honored when the NFL recognizes our organization with unique opportunities to showcase our team, our brand, and Chiefs Kingdom, whether that’s primetime games, international games, or landmark games in terms of rights and distribution,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. “Participating in the first game to stream for free around the globe exclusively on YouTube certainly fits that bill, and we can’t wait for audiences around the world to be introduced to Chiefs football when we take on the Chargers in Brazil.”
