Houston pitcher Chandler Day commits to Tony Vitello, Tennessee baseball.
Houston High School two-sport athlete Chandler Day has committed to NCAA champion Tennessee baseball. Day announced his commitment via social media on Monday.
The senior left-handed pitcher is also a star quarterback for Houston, but has always been set on playing baseball long-term.
“I am extremely blessed to be in the position I am in right now,” Day wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches and everyone that has recruited me along my high school journey.”
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Day told The Commercial Appeal of mutual interest in the Vols at July 7-on-7 football event. Day was also pursued by other SEC programs including LSU and Mississippi State. Memphis also offered him.
Day initially planned to delay his commitment until later in the year.
Tennessee has a strong record of producing professional pitchers, with three being selected in the 2024 MLB Draft.
