Recruiting has been a contentious subject for the Florida Gators. Even so, things have been getting better over the course of the last few weeks. They landed a commitment over the weekend from three-star defensive tackle Jamir Perez and are working hard to land multiple others.
Head coach Billy Napier understands that more work is needed when it comes to the recruiting trail, and he’s not taking his foot off the gas, as the Gators have offered the number one quarterback in the 2027 class, Kavian Bryant.
Florida QB target Kavian Bryant receives comparison to DJ Lagway It’s a great offer for the Gators to make, as their quarterback room is currently uncertain after the 2026 season. Why is the 2026 season important? It’s when DJ Lagway is likely to enter the NFL Draft. Bryant is a very talented player who logged 45 touchdowns to just three interceptions across 12 games as a sophomore at Westwood High School in Texas. Very impressive numbers, especially since it was in Division 1. What makes things really intriguing about the recruitment of Bryant isn’t just the star rating or the talent, but it’s the comparison. According to Gators Online’s Corey Bender, Florida coaches directly compared Bryant to Lagway. Is this the type of quarterback that Napier is going to continue to target over the course of his tenure? Bryant isn’t just a dual-threat with a live arm who can attack every blade of grass, he’s also from Texas. Lagway went to Willis High School, around an hour north of Houston. Napier going into Texas isn’t that big of a surprise. He did so frequently when he was head coach at Louisiana. If Bryant hits like Lagway does and Napier gets him to come to Florida, things will be in a great spot.
