Fargo Fencing program suspended; sexual misconduct investigation is underway
USA Fencing says on Monday, August 19, the U.S. Center for SafeSport notified USA Fencing that Jason Schoenack has been suspended for five years, after they received reports of alleged sexual abuse and sexual misconduct.
The Fargo Park District says Schoenack was a volunteer who coordinated the fencing program. The Fargo Park District says once they were notified of the investigation by USA Fencing SafeSport, Schoenack was immediately terminated, and the program was suspended.
USA Fencing says because of Schoenack’s suspension
USA Fencing says because of Schoenack’s suspension, he cannot participate in any capacity, or in any role sanctioned.
“We hope this outcome will serve as a stern warning to everyone that this conduct is threatening, harmful, or inappropriate toward anyone in our sport and will not be tolerated.” USA Fencing released in a statement to Valley News Live.
USA Fencing says Schoenack had 10 business days from August 19th to request an appeal hearing with the U.S. Center for SafeSport, but because he did not, their decision has been made final.
