As She Competes at the $1,500,000 Event, Canadian Golf Phenom Vents Out About a ‘Unfortunate’ Career Disappointment: ‘Kind of Been Left Out..’

Golf is usually an individual sport, but it is somewhat changing. The LPGA Tour has been engaging in unique play format events more than usual, such as matchplay events, and an innovative format at the Mizuho Americas Open. Currently, the second matchplay event of the season is being held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Brooke Henderson might be the happiest person on the golf course if you have a chance to see her play.

Her smile is powerful enough to capture the entire event. However, as the Canadian pride tees up at Shadow Creek, she has a lot on her mind. As the unique format of the event reminds her of something legendary she will be missing out in the upcoming months.

Brooke Henderson has now expressed her take on the matchplay format events and how she feels about her country’s participation in such events.

In the press conference, after the first day of the event was concluded, a moderator asked Henderson about her mindset regarding the match play since Team Canada does not play in the Solheim Cup and the team did not qualify for the International Crown event.

The Canadian golfer expressed her displeasure about Canada being excluded from many golf events. “Yeah, it was unfortunate that Canada, we’ve kind of been left out of quite a few events there.” For the Solheim Cup, only golfers from America and Europe are qualified to play. The 25-year-old will not be seen playing on the greens in the forthcoming Solheim Cup in the coming months.

Canada was unable to qualify for the International Crown event this year on the basis of the qualification criteria that were set for the event. For the International Crown event, the field of eight teams was selected on the basis of the combined Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings of the top four players from each country as of the Rolex Rankings on Nov. 21, 2022, after the conclusion of the CME Group Tour Championship.

Sadly, Team Canada did not make the cut.

She said that she hopes to get better at the sport by next year so that she is more comfortable at the unique play events next year. The LPGA star also expressed her fondness for the matchplay format in her interview.

Henderson’s performance at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-play event

The Canadian golfer is currently teeing it up in Las Vegas at the LPGA Matchplay event for a purse worth $1.5 million. The golfer mentioned that she enjoys the challenge of match play and thinks that it’s a fun and different concept. “I enjoy the challenge of match play, and it is so different, and I think that’s kind of what makes it fun.”

Henderson is one of the two top-10 female golfers to enter the event. She delivered a victorious performance against Yaeeun Hong on Wednesday at Shadow Creek, winning 3 and 2. The 25-year-old LPGA star took the lead on the par-5 ninth hole with a stunning birdie.
