The Maine man accused of killing two people in the town of Poland, including a teenager, has been found guilty. The jury deliberated for about 90 minutes before convicting Aaron Aldrich, of Auburn, on two counts of murder. Authorities said 16-year-old Mohamed Aden, of Lewiston, and 21-year-old Shoeb Mohamed Adan, of Springfield, Massachusetts, were found dead inside a home on Tripp Lake Road in February 2023. Court documents state Aden’s body was found in the living room with gunshot wounds in the back, chest and right arm. Detectives also said they found what appeared to be 9mm shell casings near Adan’s body, which was in another room. According to court documents, police got a tip from a Lewiston woman who said she had information. When police interviewed the woman, she told them that Aldrich had left her house around 10 p.m. the night before the victims were found dead and that he had come back around midnight. The woman told police Aldrich was acting paranoid and looking out windows, and she noticed what appeared to be blood on his shoe and a cut on his wrist. The woman told police she left home around 2 a.m. and when she got back, Aldrich was gone. The court documents state the woman said Aldrich sent her a text message around 3 a.m. with a picture of himself and the words: “I did a thing.” According to court documents, the woman told police Aldrich usually kept a 9mm gun at her house but she said it was no longer there.
