Alpingarten Zermatt- The highest alpine garden in Europe
Let yourself be enchanted by the unique flora and vegetation in the midst of the 29 four-thousanders. The Gornergrat Alpine Garden is enthroned at around 2,800 metres above sea level at the Rotenboden station and offers a view that takes your breath away – in addition to the Matterhorn, the Riffelhorn and Riffelsee seem close enough to touch.
The flora in the Alpingarten is one of the most species-rich areas in the Swiss Alps and is unique due to its special location. Many plant species grow higher here than in other comparable areas.
Numerous signs with QR codes allow you to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the Alps and learn more about the flora. What is particularly exciting is that some species in the Alpine garden are rare and endangered in Switzerland.
To marvel at the unique flora outside of the main flowering season in June and July, the flowers will be available in augmented reality from this summer. So you can admire the beautiful splendour all year round.
