A US health body concludes that Maine’s transgender athlete regulation is discriminatory.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said on Monday that is has determined Maine educational authorities are in violation of federal law prohibiting sex discrimination by allowing transgender girls to participate in school sports.

The department said in a letter to Maine Department of Education, the Maine Principals’ Association, and Greely High School that the matter may be referred to the Department of Justice if not resolved within ten days.
