Favorite from home Tim Jevsnik receives the first seed in the Veronica Cup.

Tim Jevsnik took advantage of home surroundings at the 2025 Veronica’s Cup, seeding first in the compound men’s category. The 21-year-old Slovenian is competing in his fifth edition of the annual world ranking event, held in Kamnik – a town in northern Slovenia. This year’s event has attracted 299 total competitors representing 81 different clubs and federations from around the world across the junior and senior categories. But 2025 marks the first time Jevsnik will head into the elimination matches as the number one seed. Thanks to his ranking, he receives a bye through the first two rounds. In previous editions, he qualified fifth (2021), sixth (2022), second (2023) and fourth (2024) in the 72-arrow qualification round. The Central Florida 2025 mixed team bronze medallist also broke his personal best at the Veronica’s Cup on Thursday, scoring 711 with 32 Xs – just one shy of the Slovenian national record of 712. Jevsnik’s previous high at the competition was 708 in 2023, the year he won silver – his only individual international medal to date. Now, seeded first, can he go one step further and grab gold? Spain’s Alexa Misis Olivares, just 19, topped the compound women’s field with 707 points, while Nicholas D’Amour – now shooting for the USA – led the recurve men with 677. Ines De Velasco and three-time Olympian Alexandra Mirca both shot 667 in the recurve women’s category, but the Spaniard secured the top spot with three more Xs (12) than the Moldovan (9).  Competition at the Veronica’s Cup continues with eliminations on Friday. Finals will take place on Sunday and are being streamed on archery+.
