Crime Insider sources inform Jon Burkett that a pregnant woman was slain in a shooting in Richmond.

An investigation is underway after a woman was killed in a neighborhood in Richmond’s East End on Sunday afternoon, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.

Police were called to the 2100 block of Fairfield Avenue for a report of a person shot just after 2:40 p.m., according to emergency communication logs. That is in the Fairfield Court public housing neighborhood.

“Officers arrived and located an adult female in a residence down with an injury, a Richmond Police spokesperson said. “She was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injury.”

Crime Insider sources said the victim was pregnant.

Detectives with the department’s Major Crimes Unit are investigating the case, Burkett said.

No details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting were available at last check.
