The No. 17 Kentucky Wildcats assembled a hard-earned 82-61 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Wednesday night, getting revenge after losing in Nashville on Jan. 25. 

It was an all-around performance that saw Kentucky get back in the win column, and saw another large portion-sized sharing of points as four different Cats scored double digits. 

Otega Oweh (20), Amari Williams (17), Koby Brea (12) and Andrew Carr (11) all punched back against the Commodores, continuing to play the role of crucial pieces this season. 

As it seems to be every night, Oweh heavily contributed to UK’s success, still failing to score less than ten points in a game, putting up seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block while doing so. 

The Commodore killer was Williams, who posted six rebounds, one assist and four blocks along with his 17 points. 

With Wednesday night’s success, the Englishman has strung together some momentum, adding on to his 18-point, 12-rebound performance in Kentucky’s recent fall 82-78 fall at Texas. 

“He (Williams) is a unique player, and he’s just getting more and more confident, more and more comfortable,” Head Coach Mark Pope said. 

In terms of the three-ball contribution for the Cats, Brea did what he does best, shooting 3-4 from deep, scoring 12 points, one rebound and three assists. 

The Dayton transfer ignited Kentucky’s start, coming out and nailing a 3-pointer right off the tip, giving UK some early offensive momentum. 

Brea, labeled as one of the most lethal 3-point shooters in the nation, is currently firing 44.1% from the field, while popping an average of 5.7 3-pointers per game. 

As for Carr, who has been lacking from what he once was in the beginning of the season after being the hero in Kentucky’s win over No. 6 Duke and has been battling a recent back injury, he saw a return to form against the Commodores.

Carr has put up just nine, two and six points in Kentucky’s last three games, but on Wednesday night, along with his 11 points, he added two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block through 21 minutes, his most logged time since Feb. 4 at No. 25 Ole Miss (23). 

With a valued win over Vandy completed, Kentucky now eyes a massive road test at the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (21-5, 10-3) on Saturday, Feb. 22.

One of the Cats’ only two losses in Lexington was posed by the Tide back on Jan. 18 as Kentucky got bested 102-97 while giving up its most points in a game this season.
