Former Alabama DL Ranked as the No. 1 Player in College Football Transfer Portal

Jaheim Oatis is being tabbed as the No. 1 player in the portal

Even though there are still three weeks left in the college football regular season, multiple players have already made their decisions to put their names into the upcoming transfer portal, which officially opens on December 9.

One of those players, former Alabama defensive lineman Jaheim Oatis, is ranked as the No. 1 player in the portal so far, according to 247Sports. The former four-star recruit chose to forego the rest of the 2024 season and redshirt with plans to transfer over a month ago after he became lost in the rotation and wasn’t seeing many snaps.

During his three seasons in Tuscaloosa, Oatis compiled 54 tackles and one-and-a-half sacks while also being named an All-SEC Freshman in 2022. Coming out of high school, Oatis was ranked as the No. 71 player in the country and the No. 12 defensive lineman in the country, according to The 247Sports Composite.

Oats is one of 39 transfers who are currently ranked by 247Sports, with 27 of the 39 players coming from power conference programs. Along with former Texas wide receiver Johntay Cook, Oatis is one of two players currently ranked as four-star transfers, with the other 37 players being listed as three and two-stars.

The Crimson Tide lost 40 players to the transfer portal last season following the 2023 SEC Title season, and the retirement of Nick Saban. 13 of those transfers were labeled as four-stars, while three were rated as five-star transfers, including safety Caleb Downs and wide receiver Isaiah Bond.
