5-star SG Jasper Johnson commits to Kentucky
Lexington (Ky.) Link Academy five-star shooting guard Jasper Johnson has committed to Kentucky.
He chose the hometown Wildcats over the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Kansas, Louisville and North Carolina.
Johnson is the No. 10 overall prospect and No. 4 SG in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The 6-foot-4, 170-pounder was back in Lexington in June for his first visit with head coach Mark Pope and the new UK staff.
He logged an official visit back in February, and despite the departure of John Calipari, Johnson remained all in on the Cats and has given Pope a major victory on the recruiting trail.
“Being from there, there’s always pride playing with Kentucky,” Johnson told KSR in May. “They get everybody’s best game. (Pope) coming in first year, he’s got high expectations, but they’ve built up a good roster and I’ll be interested to see what they do.”
Jqasper Johnson Scouting Summary
“Jasper Johnson is a lefty with nice size and good length. What he does is shoot the ball. Johnson has deep range that extends well beyond the three-point arc, and he is at he’s best in catch and shoot or with one/two dribble pull-aups. Would like to see Johnson tighten the handle, can struggle once he is in the paint, especially going right. Lacks blow by burst off the bounce at this point but he is a good straight line athlete with a head of steam.
